Swedish massage therapy is the modality that comes to mind when most people think about massage. As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. But Swedish massage therapy goes beyond relaxation. Swedish massage is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.
A study conducted by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, and published in The New York Times, found that volunteers who received a 45-minute Swedish massage experienced significant decreases in levels of the stress hormone cortisol, as well as arginine vasopressin-a hormone that can lead to increases in cortisol. Volunteers also had increases in the number of lymphocytes, white blood cells that are part of the immune system, and a boost in the immune cells that may help fight colds and the flu

Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints).
A study in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that people’s blood pressure fell after a single 45 to 60 minute deep tissue massage. Additionally, a 2010 meta-analysis in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry found that massage modalities like deep tissue reduce stress hormone levels and heart rate while boosting mood and relaxation by triggering the release of oxytocin and serotonin. The heat helps release the tension in your back and shoulders, mostly, so those muscles can be worked on more effectively.

Hot Stone Massage
Hot Stone Massage is a specialty massage where the therapist uses smooth, heated stones to warm up tight muscles so they can work on pressure points and problem areas to alleviate tension and stress. Hot stones may either be placed on the body or used as an extension of the therapist’s hands, which allows the therapist to work more deeply and more quickly. This is the perfect way to relax, especially if you experience chronic muscle pain. Along with relieving tension, hot stone massage can help to promote sleep, relieve pain related to auto-immune disease and boosts immunity.

Reflexology is a specific pressure technique applied to the feet where all the internal body structures and organs are mapped or mirrored in miniature.
On the feet are reflex points which correspond to different organs of the body and by pressing or working on one of these points the corresponding organ is affected.
If crystals or tenderness is felt in a certain area it is an indication of a blockage or imbalance in the corresponding organ or body parts.
Crystals are waste deposits made up of excess calcium and uric acid that builds up when the metabolism is not working correctly. The reflexologist will spend time working on these crystals and sensitive areas using the thumbs and sometimes fingers to help release the blockages and break down the deposits so they can be eliminated by the body.
Reflexology is a safe noninvasive and a relaxing treatment. Its aim is to help the body to heal itself and to maintain a balanced state of health.

Sauna thermal therapy has been used by several cultures, including the Finnish and Mayans, for thousands of years as a natural remedy for numerous ailments. However, traditional saunas and infrared saunas use different mechanisms of heating. While a traditional sauna heats the air in the environment, infrared sauna uses far infrared light to directly penetrate the skin and heat the body, raising core temperature by two to three degrees Fahrenheit. The physiological effects of infrared sauna use mimic that of cardiovascular exercise, triggering a heart rate increase and vasodilation. Following this response, the body begins rapidly sweating to activate body cooling. This heightened physiological response to cool the body may aid in fighting inflammation even after the sauna session has ended, and the increase in the body’s core temperature promotes calorie burning and increased heart rate and blood circulation. Infrared sauna use has been implemented in the treatment of high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, dementia, rheumatoid arthritis, type 2 diabetes, and chronic headaches. Infrared sauna also offers benefits including better quality of sleep, weight loss, sore muscle relief, and improved skin clarity and texture.
Disclaimer: Due to rapid water and electrolyte loss, adequate water should be consumed before and after your sauna session. Infrared sauna use is not recommended during pregnancy.
Chromotherapy, or color light therapy, utilizes the visible light spectrum to induce physiological and psychological changes. The visible color spectrum has been found to influence circadian rhythm, mood changes, heart rate, back pain, chronic pain, and migraine headaches. Our infrared sauna offers many colored lights for the alleviation of specific symptoms. Colors included are:
Red- increases heart rate, reduces acne, psoriasis, pain and inflammation, and accelerates wound healing
Green- Reduces migraine and chronic pain symptoms, increases feelings of calmness and improves concentration
Blue- Improves energy levels, helps regulate sleep patterns, and improves comprehension and focus
Yellow- Increases feelings of happiness, clarity, and optimism
Cyan- This combination of blue and green light provides anti-inflammatory benefits and enhances feelings of calmness and clarity
Purple- Has antibacterial effects and promotes feelings of peace
White- Helpful in alleviating chronic pain, depression, and seasonal affective disorder

Detox massage begins with dry brushing the skin in the direction of the heart, which aids in improving blood and lymphatic circulation and in removing dead skin cells. Following dry brushing, you will receive a relaxation massage, with deep tissue massage performed on areas with increased muscle tension. Grapefruit, juniper, and orange essential oils are added to grapeseed carrier oil for their beneficial properties. Grapefruit essential oil aids in suppressing appetite and encouraging weight loss, reducing stress and lowering blood pressure. It also has antimicrobial effects and may aid in reducing acne. Juniper essential oil has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, supporting immune function, collagen synthesis, and protecting against free radical damage. Juniper berries have also been used in traditional medicine as a diabetes treatment, and preliminary studies have demonstrated its effectiveness in reducing blood sugar levels. Orange essential oil, like grapefruit essential oil, also has antimicrobial properties and can inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi. Orange essential oil also provides relief from anxiety, depression, and acute pain. Throughout your massage, cupping therapy will be incorporated on problem areas to increase blood circulation and assist in healing. Lastly, you may choose to receive a 20 minute infrared sauna session to further warm and relax muscles, burn excess calories, and release toxins through sweat.
